An ordinary state-based peridynamic elastoplastic 2D model consistent with J2 plasticity

A new ordinary state-based peridynamic model (OSB-PD) in 2D consistent with J2 plasticity using a novel decomposition for force and extension states is presented. strategy testing the consistency of an OSB-PD formulation elastoplasticity introduced. In contrast other similar models, elasto-plastic objective works large rotations. Two rate-independent yield functions equivalent to associated flow rules are formulated based on strain energy density. An efficient return mapping algorithm formulations proposed. The verified against results obtained Abaqus classical two examples, one featuring plastic deformations under evolution zone computed found match that from Abaqus. With simple damage model, demonstrative plane stress example shear localization full rupture captures same failure mechanism as observed experimentally: initial almost symmetrical banding, evolves into single, predominant band, followed by rupture.
